The Honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri Mamta Banarjee, has launched this impactful housing scheme known as Banglar Bari Housing Scheme on December 17, 2024, in which the Government aims to provide financial help and support to all the eligible citizens so that they can build their Houses. Under this scheme, the Government aims to provide financial help of 1.20 lakh provided in two instalments to all the citizens belonging to the economically weaker sections (EWS) and lower income groups (LIG).

The Government has allocated a total budget of INR 14,773 Crores for the implementation of this scheme, and till now, about 12 Lakh beneficiaries have received funds provided in the first phase of this scheme.
